As human best friend and one of the member of their family is most of people treats their dog. Happiness and healthiness are considered important and many dog owners willing to do anything to keep it. Dog owners need to learn about dog’s health. More enjoyment and better canine companion will come if your dog is healthy.

Dog nutrition is essential for dog health. Health of your dog can be maintained best with proper nutrient provided by high quality food. On contrary, the deterioration of your dog’s health can cause by poor quality food. For example, if you give easy digest cheap dog food which contain overcooked grains, you have to add minerals and vitamins as supplement to this kind of food. Nutritious food is important for our pet.

Lots of meats are needed by our dog because they are carnivores. High quality meat should be their bulk of diet. Although, certain amount of grain based dog food and vegetables can be given to them regularly. Be careful, the cheapest dog food manufactured by some pet food companies use low quality meat. Unfit meats for human consumption, sick, or disable animal are which the meat is taken from. Therefore, best dog foods you can afford are worth to use for their diet.

Exercise is the next phase for maintaining dog health. To keep in good shape, plenty of exercise is needed for dogs to have. A great way to get some fresh air and keep in shape is walking twice a day with your dog. Exercising together is one of the advantages of having a dog.

Maintain your dog health by avoiding him become overweight is important. Not enough exercise and too much diet should not be done by dog owners. Many dogs’ health problems are cause by overweight body. Most of slim dogs have longer life span than overweight dogs.

One of deadly viral disease is distemper. Contact with urine, feces, and saliva may cause your dogs to have this kind of disease. Sneezing, lack of appetite, coughing, runny nose, and diarrhea are including in the symptoms of distemper. Immediately take your dog to the vet if those symptoms occur. Do not hesitate; your dog may not be survived if you delay the action too long. Once a year, you can give a vaccine to your dog as a protection for distemper.

Another serious disease for your dogs is rabies. Central nervous system is organ which affected by this disease. 30 to 60 days after exposure, symptoms may appear. Most of the cases, infected animals that bite our dog may cause rabies. Dangerous to handle and very hostile are usually happens when they are infected. But do not worry; with proper annual vaccination this disease can be prevented.

Next disease is attacking liver and kidneys. It is cause by bacteria and called Leptospirosis. Loss of appetite, stiffness, vomiting, a change in bowel and urinary and runny nose are the symptoms of the disease. Be aware, human also can be infected by dogs with leptospirosis. Immediately take your dog to the vet if these symptoms occur. Against this disease there is a vaccine to overcome it.

Another common disease that affects dog health is dog hepatitis. Urine and saliva from infected dog are the main transport for this viral disease. Except bloody stools and high temperatures, distemper symptoms are similar to dog hepatitis symptoms. If the symptoms come, it means your dog needs immediate vet medical treatment.  Annual vaccinations can prevent all the diseases mentioned above and dog hepatitis. Do proper vaccinations for your dog and regular visit to veterinarian to maintain your dog health.
